On Saturday, September 12th Naomi Osaka defeated Victoria Azarenka to win her second US Open title. She won in she lost her first set 1-6 then fought through winning the second and third sets 6-3.

ESPN reporter “You said from the beginning you had seven matches, seven masks, [and] seven names. What was the message you wanted to send?” Osaka replied “Well, what was the message you got? [That] was more the question”. “I feel like the point is to make people start talking,” she continued.

Social media lit up with praise. In 2020 Osaka has not only won the US Open, but her activism has opened up hearts and started conversations regarding social injustices.
