In the most unique election cycle of our lives, one candidate stood out and was able to lead the pack. After the June 23rd primary, Councilman Donovan Richards was the projected winner. Due to Covid-19, Queens had over 88,000 absentee ballots to count. After several weeks and many manned hours at the Board of Elections, Richards still held his position. Elizabeth Crowley, a former councilwoman in Glendale, was the closest competitor but was never ever able to get past Richards’ 7% lead. She conceded the race which made Donovan Richards the official democratic candidate for the general election.
Donovan Richards is the Queens County Democratic Party nominee for Queens Borough President in the general election. Joan Ariola, the GOP Chairwoman out of Howard Beach, was nominated by her party to be the candidate for the same position. The race will be Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
